Workshop Description

In this 3-day course on drawing and watercolor painting, beginners and those looking to build their skills will explore sketching, color layering, and watercolor techniques using natural pigments made from wine, coffee, turmeric, and beetroot. You’ll create a unique, multi-layered painting from start to finish, all while learning to work with eco-friendly materials. Each 1.5-hour session builds on foundational skills and introduces new methods, helping you grow your artistic confidence. What You’ll Learn: • Sketching and Composition: Develop an understanding of composition and learn to capture your ideas through sketching. • Watercolor Techniques: Practice color mixing, layering, and blending using natural watercolors to create depth and vibrancy. • Color Theory and Scale: Discover how to use the color wheel to create harmony and contrast in your work. • Final Detailing and Layering: Apply the finishing touches, adding details and balance to complete your artwork. What’s Included: • Three 1.5-hour sessions • All materials provided, including sketch paper, natural watercolor paints (made from wine, coffee, turmeric, and beetroot), and brushes • Your own completed watercolor painting to take home COURSE SCHEDULE • Class 1: Ideation and Sketching We begin with brainstorming and sketching to define the concept for your painting. You’ll learn the basics of drawing and composition and start applying the first watercolor layer, practicing foundational brush techniques and color application using natural pigments. • Class 2: Color and Layer Building This session dives into the color scale, exploring color theory and layering to create depth in your work. You’ll continue with the second and third layers, enhancing your painting with richer colors and textures from natural watercolors. • Class 3: Final Layers and Details In the final class, you’ll bring together everything you’ve learned to complete your piece. You’ll add the last layers of watercolor, focusing on details, contrast, and balance, creating a finished artwork ready to take home. About the Teacher This course is led by Choki, a skilled artist from Florentina Tattoo (@florentina_tattoo). His expertise in fine detail will guide you in creating a personalized painting.
